Education Maintenance Allowance (EMA)

EMA is for young people aged 16-18, living in Wales, who want to continue their education after leaving school. If you’re eligible, you could get £30 a week, paid every two weeks. Find out more about the Education Maintenance Allowance on Student Finance Wales.

Financial Contingency Fund

Further Education Colleges in Wales have Financial Contingency Funds that help students in serious financial difficulties. They can support with study-related costs such as internet access, equipment, travel and assessment costs for diagnosis of a specific learning difficulty. To find out more, speak to the college’s Students Support or Welfare Services department.
